Laminated safety glass consists of two sheets of glass with a polyvinylbutyral (PVB) interlayer, bonded under heat and pressure into a single unit to provide personal protection against injury by glass due to it collapsing or through falling through the glass.

Safety glass will not shatter or collapse under normal bodily impact; it retains its integrity within the frame.
